Believe it or not, there's a 10' x 20' Pattison ground sign behind there. Those trees' days are numbered. We don't know what the deal with the keyboard is. Photos taken on Lower Sherbourne, just north of The Esplanade, by Jonathan Goldsbie.......

Many fast-food chains and grocery stores are reintroducing tomatoes to their menus after the American tomato salmonella outbreak last week. Officials for the stores said that they waited until everybody had forgotten about the salmonella thing before bringing back the tomatoes, and that in future they hope to make us forget about bad things faster. Howard Hampton confirmed this weekend that he will not seek re-election to the NDP's provincial leadership next March. Hampton......

Toronto has experienced some erratic and spectacular weather recently, so pair a thunderstorm with our often rotten, hollow tree canopy and carnage often ensues. This particular space became double parked around six this evening near Shaw and Harrison Streets, and though this type of destruction is not uncommon, things might have been worse. Now, would the owner of a black Volkswagen hatchback please report to the sidewalk? We have some bad news. Photo by......

The Waterfront Trail through Pickering (now easier than ever to get to!) offers some intriguing sights, including this retired former tree just off Frenchman's Bay. If you've ever tried to remove a tree stump, you can probably understand why a homeowner would choose to dress it up rather than dig it out. Still, Stumpy looks a little downcast. You would be too if you'd lost your crown and all your bark was cracked and......

Continuing a historic tradition of corporately sponsored holiday cheer, the 35-foot "Swarovski Crystal Wish Tree" was formally unveiled last night at the Eaton Centre. The star-studded event––a Children’s Wish Foundation fundraiser hosted by Justin Trudeau (yes, the Justin Trudeau)––drew a sizeable crowd of shoppers. Very few members of the audience seemed to actually know what they were lining up to see, though, as the tree was hidden by an enormous curtain for the better part......

The next time you're walking along the wooded trails near the marsh in E.T. Seton Park, you may find a weathered sign overlooking a wet meadow. Still barely legible, it reads: Trees in this area were planted by the Outing Club of East York in honour of Charles Sauriol who was instrumental in the preservation of this valley August 1980 The Outing Club of East York's Diane Vieira told us that in its early......

Reader Amanda Happé came across this sight yesterday morning: city employees carving up and taking away Trinity-Bellwoods' much-loved painted blue and white tree trunk (also known as the Universal Love Machine). Neither felled by nature or protected by nature-lovers, we've yet to find out the reason for its removal—though Amanda suggests, and we agree, that it was pretty rotten-looking. Painted tree stumps can only live for so long, ya know. Either way, we've sent......
