Every weekday morning, bright and early, we feature a photo (or two) from a photographer in the Torontoist Flickr Pool. It's our way of giving the many excellent photographers in our pool the attention that they deserve.
On Monday’s edition of Stars & Dogs, BNN personality Kim Parlee wondered if TD Canada Trust’s use of attractive and muscular models armed only with water guns, green briefs, and temporary tattoos of the bank’s logo, was too risqué for the Canadian institution. (Blogs show a mix of support and jeers for the marketing tactic.) It’s an interesting question: where should a company with a market cap of over $51 billion draw the line on decency? Nudity, as with all things, depends on the context.
Sarah Lazarovic—curator of the garage-based Montrose Portrait Gallery of Canada—is painting a portrait of a Torontonian every day. Each Monday, we'll feature one of those portraits here. Suggestions for subjects welcome.

[murmur], the "documentary oral history project that records stories and memories told about specific geographic locations" (God help us if we try to explain it any better than they can), has installed six new stories in the Gaybourhood just in time for Pride. The stories were done with help from Chris Bentley, "a researcher from York University looking into queer oral histories in the neighbourhood who thought it might be a good idea to do his recordings in the [murmur] format and make those stories accessible on the street, where the events occurred."
This Saturday, Pride Toronto has teamed up with The Word On The Street for the second annual Proud Voices Reading Series. It's a talent-packed day-long celebration of queer writers, showcasing the best of Canada's literary skill by bringing both established veterans and emerging authors to the James Canning Gardens Stage (Gloucester and Dundonald).

June is a great time to get a little prideful. Tuesday was the fifth anniversary of legalized same-sex marriages in Ontario, and Pride Toronto kicks off next Friday and runs until Sunday, June 29. (Keep an eye on Torontoist for full details on the Pride to-do list.) In the meantime, it might be a good idea to get in some exercise. Don't take it personally: it's to prep for the 5K Pride and Remembrance Run happening on the morning of Saturday, June 28. Torontoist caught up with runner John Ainey to get the scoop on the Run.
