The Food Jammers Eat Yummy Buns On Baldwin Street

rsz_4food_jammers_feb21.jpgIf you were at the Yung Sing Pastry Shop on Baldwin Street yesterday morning, you could have eaten some yummy buns with the Food Jammers. Yay you say. But wait, who are the Food Jammers? They are the hosts of the television show of the same name that take a humorous, thoughtful and often absurd look at eating and preparing food.

A typical episode will find Food Jammers' Christopher Martin, Micah Donovan and Nobu Adilman cutting fresh pasta into the shape of lightning bolts with a car jack, delivering pizza shaped like an Egyptian pyramid by hot air balloon or re-creating Robert Smithson's spiral jetty with artichoke dip for an edible art show. They also make a fabulous sheep's milk Camembert cheese, developed a signature coffee roast and have solved Toronto's dearth of cheap authentic Mexican food by inventing an ingenious vending machine that spits out fresh tacos.

During the filming of the episode Global Dumpling, Mayor David Miller called the Food Jammers on the telephone to throw his support behind their bid to proclaim October 27 International Dumpling Day – an event that aims to promote diversity through dumplings and provide the people of the world with a nice snack.

Almost through their second season of shooting the Toronto-based production, the handsome and clever Food Jammers were seeking breakfast solutions for busy people on Wednesday morning. They were at Yung Sing pastry shop starting out their day with Chinese buns, because the pastries -- that contain a complete a meal inside the bun -- make a handy, nutritious to-go breakfast and are a better option than processed breakfast granola bars.

The breakfast-themed episode will also address a pancake problem, as the limitations of one pancake per skillet are tackled and overcome with a Pancake Gravitron. This weekend, if you are making pancakes, the Food Jammers say the secret to a perfect flapperjacker is to not over-mix the mix. If you do, then you get rubbery.

Food Jammers' second season begins March 26 on Food Network Canada.

The Food Jammers are so hot!

Mmmm... I could definitely go for a taco. Whereabouts are these delightful vending machines of which you speak?

I love making pancakes and can't wait to see the gravitron pancake maker... And what they say about over mixing is so true.

they are just about the coolest people that i dont know, but still kinda of feel like i know.
ya know?

and thats not just because theyre local. (although for the longest time i used to think they were based in B.C.)

anyway, looking forward to season two.
but speaking of second seasons, what about Top Chef? anyone follow that? i hear the second season's been airing for awhile in the U.S.

These guys are the sexy!

For all you lovers out there, the gravi-pancake-tron worked like a charm.

The lineups are already long enough. It'll only make it worse.
