Live Baby Live - Week of Sept. 25

Soulwax by Carrie Musgrave

This fall is shaping up to be a busy one, as everyone and their dog seems to be touring right now. If you haven't spent all of your OSAP money yet, might want to stash away a few pennies for some concert tix. However, if you've already blown your student loan on cheap beer and (even cheaper) Ikea furniture, take comfort in the fact that you can visit your local public library to catch a few live shows this November -- free! I can't think of a better excuse to go "study" at the library, can you?

As always, if we missed any good shows happening in this city this week, let us know in the comments.

Oct. 30 - K-OS @ Mod Club, $30

is this a typo? or does that asshole actually think people will pay $30 to see him?

Sadly, not a typo:

I was considering making a comment about it in the post, but decided to keep my mouth shut. $30 is insane.

What are these insanely cool library shows? I don't need an excuse to go to the library but man these shows are great.

Yeah, I was going to ask that too! WHEN did the library start booking music? WHO is booking it? HOW does a band get involved in this terrific idea(although, not terrific if you're actually going there to study)?

The shows are being organized by Blocks Recording Club Co-op, which was founded by a group of local musicians including some of the members of Ninja Highschool (hence the connection). Tickets are free and must be picked up in advance sometime in October (not announced when yet) at Sounsdscapes or various library branches.

I'm a little late on the scene here, but I thought I'd point out that the library concerts are in fact being organized by the library itself in order to promote its new local music collection. I have an good idea of who in particular is (largely) responsible, but I'm not telling.
