City Idol Coming Down to the Wire

Come next Tuesday, Toronto will have its first four City Idol winners. Last weekend part-time Grad student and Ministry of the Environment employee Bahar Aminvaziri won the title of City Idol for North York. She's declared that she's running in crowded Ward 26, vacated by Mayoral candidate Jane Pitfield.
This Saturday, Scarberians will be picking their own City Idol. The event starts at 6:30pm at the Scarborough Civic Centre.
Monday sees the final for Downtown-East York. I'm one of the six finalists and ridiculously amazed that I made it this far. In the few months that I've known my five other finalists I've seen qualities that would make any of them great councillors. We have Monika Dutt, a doctor and triathlete, indie rocker and community activist Katarina Collins, Native community leader Dennis Stark, environmentalist and well-coiffed candidate Karen Sun, the straight-shooting and "fearless" Desmond Cole. A vote for any of them would be better than a vote for the Moscoes, the Fords, the Nunziatas and the Minnan-Wongs that fill council seats. The Downtown-East York final is Monday 8pm at the Lula Lounge.
Finally, City Idol wraps up with the final Tuesday night in Etobicoke at the York Civic Centre. After that comes the hard work of trying to get elected.

A couple things, Ron: Bahar's last name is "Aminvaziri" and Ms Dutt's first name is spelled "Monika." Also, saying that the finalists are better than the "Moscoes, the Fords, the Nunziatas and the Minnan-Wongs" of Council is holding them to a fairly low standard. I'd go so far as to say that all of the finalists, yourself included, would be better than every single councillor we have now, except for maybe Davis, Mihevc, Fletcher, Walker and maybe a couple others.
How about a vote for Ron? I know I'd sure as heck vote for him...
