Truck Side Guards Now!
Torontoist is sick and tired of seeing cyclists die in collisions with large trucks. We remember meeting Ryan Carriere at CanZine very briefly, we also remember getting the phone call from the Gladstone that he had died in a cycling accident with a truck the very next day.
Well yesterday two more cyclists died in crashes with large trucks. The first was a 46-year old man who was struck by a dump truck near Avenue and Cortleigh around 8:45 AM. The second was a 16-year old girl heading to her North York home, she was also struck by a truck.
Eye points out that they've written more than one editorial calling for sideguards and we'd like to join them in calling for these cheap safety improvement. We'd also like to point out that the City of Toronto coroner recommended that side guards be installed in 1998.

That's, I believe, four cyclist killed be trucks in a row since last summer.
Hear hear!
Truck side-guards have been recommended for over a decade (when was that coroners report exactly?) and they don't cost *much*, so what's a human life worth in this town anyways?!?
