Tommy Lee Walks on the Wild Side (Almost)
There's nothing TOist loves better than a beautiful lady. Even if she isn't really one, biologically speaking. In any case, Nina Arsenault, Toronto's First Tranny of plastic surgery and all things fabulous, managed to catch the eye of well-hung Hep C rocker, Tommy Lee a few nights ago - except he didn't know 'she' was really a 'he'. Tommy, whatever happened to expanding your horizons?

if she identifies as a "she", then she's a she. since when did gender have to do with biology? and since when were identities of "him" or "her" not about gender?

gender and race are two very different things. DUH.
gender identity is a social construction. boys like blue cars and girls like pink dolls because we are socialized into those roles. that's just a very simplistic example but you get the idea.
nina identifies as female and feels like she is female.. so why persist on calling her a man? that's called transphobia.
p.s. however, race is also a social construction but i'm not going to get into that right now..

Im eyes it will always be a sick male in need of serious psychotherapy. The plastic surgeon who works on it should be charged with assault and criminal negligence.
Gender is different from sex. Sex is biological. Gender is social and cultural.
So, biologically, yes, I would classify Ms. Arsenault as a male, if only for strict categorical and medical purposes.
But I would *always* treat her and refer to her as as a female, because she considers herself to be that way and that's how she wants to be treated.
It's simple manners.
James McNeigh, maybe you should get your head out of your ass for a bit & take a breath of fresh air instead of inhailing the stink in your ass.

Helen- Actually I have a pretty good life. Except for high property taxes and slightly misaligned upper rib from Kickboxing I am very, very happy.
I have a wondeful family and have many friends whom I love and whom love me. Among these are a few homosexuals that I never break bread with because ......well you know....us normal people will converse with gays but the family thing is reserved for others with real nuclear families.
Regardless call IT a she if makes you happy. In my eyes it will always be an IT.
It doesn't matter. I will never share the same social circle as IT so this will never be a factor in either one of our lives.

Gender IS determined by an individuals sex. Gender dysphoric
individuals have psychological issues which can blur their own objectivity as to their sexual identity. This by no means they should be persecuted or slighted against. It also does not mean they should be judged by how they choose to live their lives. As long as they are happy...God bless them.

Gay men talk about the Gay Pride for 6 mths. and the next 6 months they talk about how much fun it was. Then they talk about various sex romps, how everyone is against them, how they don't get paid enough (if they were paid to gossip they would be millionaires).etc etc.
These are not the type of people I want breaking bread with my nuclear family. I have many friends and having a gay guy over would be inappropriate. I would also lose friends whom are good family men and women. For what? To listen about how gays love Arab men and they are so rare on Church St.? Please. Take you sickness elsewhere.
